Gold lamé roses shawl, 1915-25
|
$1,000 - £615 / Item Ref.# 40005
Rare gold lamé & roses shawl, c.1915-25. Made from rouge-pink
silk, and densely woven throughout with pure gold lamé threads. The shawl
is a highly collectible example, as rose motif and lame textiles, are both
some of the most highly prized and coveted, and in this example it
bears both!
Firey-orange roses with green swags, and with fine gold threads woven
to rose motif! The shawl bears somewhat of an early deco influence, as
noticeable in the manner in which the panels of brocade are woven to the
silk—strict straight lines, instead of a free & flowing array of
floral motifs, heavily popular in it's decade and of prior. Though the
warm glow from the lamé & rich colours, are symbolic of an art noveau
treasure!
It's edged with long, deep rose silk fringe, which is also strung
with strands of gold lame threads! There is also lame used to wrap the
fringe into tight bunches where applied to the edge of the shawl.
Measurements: 48" x 37", fringe measures an additional 16."
The condition is almost
Excellent- there is the occassional small spot, but nothing that's immediately noticeable, and is only very minor. |
