For the lover of glowing, golden lamés! A fine, pure gold lamé on black silk, lady's shawl c.1915-25. With a heavy Oriental influence in the motif of the weave, it expresses the important & ever-popular movent which the far east played on western fashion during the period.

 

One of the prized advantages of antique lamés, is the warm golden 'patina' the threads gain with age, and is a reward to the years it's survived!— This shawl has just that! The originally gold threads have gained a vibrance from their long-lived life, something which contemporary pieces cannot come close to matching, regardless of how expensive they are. It's edged with long black hand-knotted fringe.
