A large, lilac silk Chinese-export piano shawl, c.1910-20. Made from a smooth lilac silk and fully hand embroidered with amethyst silk floss to a traditional floral motic, which includes oversized Chrysanthemums and small blossoms.

 

The shawl is edged with pale pink silk crochet fringe, which is finely hand tied along the top. A versatile fashion or decorative item, and with it's large sizez, makes for a beautiful display! The amethyst silk threads are clean & shiny, allowing the embroidery work to glisten in the light!

 

 

Measurements: 50" x 50," the fringe is an additional 17."

 

The condition is almost Excellent- there are some tiny little occasional spots in the silk, thus very minor.
