The famous San Francisco based department store- I. Magnin, opened it's doors around the turn of the 20th C. where clients of the California area were assured to find a range of exquisite items. Within a short timeframe, the store quickly gained it's reputation for excellence and became renowned for it's superior quality items, many being European imports. This dress is no question to their esteemed reputation, and is most likely a Parisian export, as it's quality, style and design are highly reminiscant of the ravishing French fashion which lead the 'new-look' era.

  • Fashioned from black silk faille.
  • The skirt is beautifully styled with a wraped & gathered side drape, ending in a sash-effect, and trimmed with silk chenille fringe.
  • This style was repeatedly seen in a few examples from the house of Dior during the era.
  • Back of the dress is detailed with a sloping row of silk covered buttons above the waistline, which are functional.
  • Fastens through side fasteners beneath the draped area as well buttons to the back.
  • Labelled, I.Magnin & Co. / Importers.

Measurements: Bust 37", Waist 28."
The condition is almost Excellent- a couple of the silk buttons from the back are now missing, these would be easy to match and repair, this simple repair job is reflected in the price.
