Ceil Chapman lace cocktail dress, 1950's
|
$895 - £550 / Item Ref.# 30244 Sold
With auction hammer prices rising on Ceil Chapmans, it's a definite
fact that collectors have become more and more in love with the feminine
& simply beautiful looks the Chapman dresses bear. Being a favourite
designer of Marilyn Monroe, she owned an off-shoulder lace
Chapman dress which she wore during her pose for the cover of Life
magazine in 1952.
This dress is constructed with a flowing, full A-line skirt, and
signature Ceil Chapman bodice—comprising of wrapped satin bands beneath
the bossom, and off the shoulder sleeves with draped lace across. It's
fashioned from blush-pink luminous silk, with celadon-green floral lace
atop.
The dress has been photographed over an additional petticoat, so a
less-fuller look could be achieved if desired. Fastens at the back with a
zipper, and is labelled.
Measurements: Bust 36", Waist 25".
The condition is Excellent.
