Carven embroidered bouffant dress, 1950's
|
£560 / Item Ref.# 30242
A rarely seen, 'old-master' couturiér cocktail dress, by Carven of
Paris. Dating to the 1950's, it's fashioned from soft, black silk tulle,
and abundantly hand embroidered with micro-fine black threads to
a 'roundel' style motif. This motif is beautifully executed in the dress
throughout, with 1000's of the charming little embroidered roundels!
Constructed with a bouffant skirt, acheived through the many tiers of
tulle and also the superb interior construction (see below image), which
comprises of multiple interior petticoats, and linings. Note that the
dress was not photographed over any additional under foundations.
The silk tulle used, is ultra fine, giving the feeling of a smooth
silk, and the silk threads used in the embroidery provide a further touch
of smoothness and also give the dress such a decadent dimension!
Lined in silk, and fastens with a zipper. Labelled Creation /
Carven / Paris. Garments by Carven are prized and scarce, thus
rank as highly as it's master neighbours in Paris such as
Lanvin, Patou, etc. The example has a greater mystery thanks to it's
rarity!
Measurements: Bust 34", Waist 26".
The condition is
