Ball gowns have long been associated with enchanting, romantic moods...their galant silhouettes were made perfectly for flattering the shapes of all figures. After the war and with Dior's 'new look,' fashions saw, no longer, the uniformally tailored garments in eveningwear, and instead, were ready to return to the grand elegance & romanticism of the feminine allure.

 

This example is fashioned from petal pink silk, and decorated with dangling crystals, sequins, beads and rhinestones. Designed by the young designer, Rudolf, whose designs captured the design and feel of the 'new look' gowns produced in Paris, for the American based clientelle.

 

The silhouette of the gown bears both the fullness of a ball gown, and elongated shaping, which gives the wearer a statuesque, elegant appearance. Featuring wide pleating at the waistline, which billows near the hem, and also having a slight train.

 

The dress is backed with taffeta, and fastens at the back with a zipper. It was sold at the department store- Shannon's, and is labeled "Original by Rudolf." A truely regal, 'high-society' piece, and paired with a strand of vintage Miriam Haskell pearls, it will be a sublime ensemble!

The condition is almost Excellent- minor jewel/bead loss as expected, but it's not noticeable (some spares will be provided).
