I adore dresses, such as this example, which were made by the lesser-known designers, as their garments had to have exquisite design and construction to carry out their name, as these designers couldn't lie back on the fact that their name was of popularity. Instead, in these type of garments, one can certainly expect to find perfect construction, fine attention to detail throughout the design, and wonderful hand-finished details.

 

This dress is fashioned from cream tulle lace with hand applied silk organza, which makes up for the majority of the lace's design. The upclose image below of the lace, illustrates how finely applied and in-depth of a process it was. The lace is further accented by golden thread which runs through the design and highlights the lace's shaping.

 

It's backed with apricot coloured taffeta, giving the dress it's overall warm glow, whilst the waistband is fashioned from rich, apricot satin. The dress has a gently billowing silhouette, done in the 'cupola' line (the cupola line was originally a design of Christian Dior in about 1953), achieved through the interior construction which is comprised of a tulle backing, and also the manner in which the lace was cleverly stitched to the waist, creating a romantic fullness.

 

A very figure-flattering shape, again, thanks to the fine choice of cut and interior construction, also throught he use of the wide waistband, helping achieve a more tappered effect.

The condition is Very Good- there is the occassional break in the lace, but it's not of any concern as this is very difficult to see, and a small section of the golden threads have gained a 'patina' and darkened.
