'Heirloom Preserved' beaded satin wedding gown, 1890's

£1,120 / Item Ref.# 20007

A magnificent wedding gown that has remained in like new / mint condition all these decades, thanks to the "Heirloom Process" of preservation- which the gown underwent. Rarely do mint condition pieces reach the open market- as they are often all retained by museums. And due to the gown's pristine state, this makes it modernly wearable for a new bride- whom wants a romantic, historic essence in her special gown.

The wedding gown belonged to Jessie B. Bontecou Elliot, and is fashioned from silvery white silk satin- which has a soft luminous sheen, and features romantic period features- such as the leg-of-mutton sleeves, and an elegant long train- which has a lace dust ruffle lining that can be seen along the edges of the train. It's tastefully decorated throughout with pearl beads of white and grey in a floral motif. The sheen of both the pearls and the satin gives the ensemble an overall look of soft innosence- and most definitely enhanced the bride's beauty on her wonderful day.

The skirt and bodice are seperate pieces, and the bodice fastens at the back by lacing up- please note that it was slighly too small for our display form and is meant to be fully closed at the back, whilst the skirt fastens with hook and eyes. It is fully lined in silk and organdy, and the skirt has a Val lace dust ruffle which can be seen all along the skirt's edge. Included with the gown is a portfolio containing a photograph of the gown just prior to it being archived by the Heirloom Process of preservation, a certificate, details of the preservation process, and certification. This special wedding gown, has a true sentiment, and is candidate worthy of a bride whom will continue to preserve and add to its history, or placed respectably in a fine collection!

Measurements: Bust 32", Waist 22" (the use of a good corset could help!) Skirt length at front 42", back train length of 74".

The condition is Pristine!
